Dear Friends...
We failed to save our ancient structures. Many important civil engineering structures especially numerous irrigation structures were built by the british rulers. And now we are not maintaining them properly and not taken care of those strutures.
While visiting such things we can't be calm regarding the knowledge and skills of our ancestors. Without having sophisticated technology and machineries they had done a marvelous job. We always think about The Taj, Redfort and some temples, etc when we talk about the ancient structures, but we failed to think about the structures used for day to day life. One such thing I visited few months ago. I wish to share about that.
I visited the Syphon Aqueduct located 8km from Chidamabaram on the way to Kattumannarkoil. A very old irrigation structures still in service. I astonished while seeing the structure, how our forefathers built it with aesthetic value. The structure is completely built with burnt bricks and lime mortar. A nice brickwork with surface finish. We can't stop thinking about its beauty and durability.

The vehicle carriage way is now abandoned from traffic, and the canal status is active. People are using the abandoned way for some other purposes. This is what happening in all other structures. Who is responsible to take care of them. The Government should have concern about this. I don't know that they had been even addressed or not. We should act on this.
